Weekly Devlog #6b - Week 13 - The final sprint
Josh's Devlog Update: The Final Sprint to Launch Day! ๐
Hello one and all!
We're in the final stretch, with the game submission deadline fast approaching this Sunday. It's full steam ahead as I race against time to bring you the best possible version of the game for the WebGL build. And although it's a bit of mad rush, we're excited to see the end product.
Recent Achievements:
- Upgraded Robot Parts: Our beloved robot has got some fancy new upgrades that I've managed to integrate in the last 48 hours. Let's look at them:
- Hyperblaster Weapon - Think of our standard blaster, but on an adrenaline rush. It packs a punch with a high firing rate, ensuring you dominate the battlefield.
- New Armors:
- Heavy Armor - Beef up your defenses! This gives our robot an additional 30 max energy, although it comes with a trade-off in agility.
- Gravitron Armor - Feel the pull, or rather the lack of it! This armor weakens gravity's hold on our protagonist, also enhancing the attraction speed and range of the energy orbs.
- Energy Armor - Perfect for those intense battle moments. This armor deflects incoming attacks using energy. Time its use wisely!
- Torch Transformation - Light up the way! Our robot's left hand now transforms into a torch, illuminating the path ahead.
The Hyper Blaster is a game-changing boost to the little guys arsenal
Some pretty serious air time can be had with the gravitron armor equipped
The torch in action, and you can also see the new camera avoiding walls in the tight space ๐
- Music - Our game now resonates with some stellar tunes, all thanks to the royalty-free music sourced from Incompetech. It truly elevates the gameplay experience.
- Squeaky Steps - Every move our robot makes is now accompanied by a squeaky wheel noise, adding a layer of realism and quirkiness to the character's movements.
- Visual Delights - We've added some visual effects to showcase the changed parts. It's all about the details!
- Game Control Enhancements - Quality of life improvements! You can now use the mouse wheel to easily switch weapons on the robot's right arm.
- Bug Hunts - Our ever-watchful eyes caught more bugs lurking in the code, and guess what? We squashed 'em!
- Level 2 Progress - We've laid down the groundwork for Level 2. Here's a sneak peek:
Level 3: Our little guy's quest for escape is going underground..
In conclusion, these past few days have been a whirlwind of coding, designing, and testing. I'm proud of the progress made and can't wait for others to experience the game.
Stay tuned for more updates, and gear up for game night from this Sunday evening... Midnight.... ๐
Until next time, Josh ๐ฎ
